Values Awards

Our Values Awards are given to employees and teams who consistently go above and beyond in their work.

The Commitment Award was given to the Vascular ICU Leadership Team at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. They were recognized for their work to eradicate central-line infections and ventilator-associated pneumonia on their unit.

Honorable Mention: Emergency Department, Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital

Video: Caring for others is a top priority for this team.


The CommUNITY Award was given to the Vascular Progressive Care Unit Community Outreach Team at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. This team was recognized for their service to patients, the community and to their fellow employees.

Honorable Mentions: Sara Wohlford, R.N. in the Emergency Department Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and the Carilion Clinic Patient Transportation team in Radford.

The Compassion Award went to Amanda Kitchner, medical office associate at Carilion Clinic Cardiology in Christiansburg. Amanda was recognized for the way she connects with patients and ensures they get the care they need.

Honorable Mention: Kristy Waldron, R.N., Outpatient Orthopaedics in Roanoke.

The Courage Award went to Joe Castiglioni, Communications. Joe filmed a video series documenting his weight-loss journey through one of our FIT Rx programs.

Honorable Mention: Laurie Fuchs, Transfer Center, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Video: Tim's work helped improve the patient experience.


The Curiosity Award went to Timothy Salyer, R.N., Emergency Department at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Tim developed, teaches and tracks the ultrasound-guided IV program within the department.

Honorable Mention: Farrah Vaughn, coordinator of the Chronic Heart Failure Clinic at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.
