Neuroscience Conferences

In addition to bedside and intra-operative education, a vigorous didactic and conference schedule is provided with mandatory attendance of all residents rotating in the region. The academic schedule includes lectures, conferences, meetings, seminars, practicals, quizzes, rounds, and more, every Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Here all aspects of neuroscience fundamentals and core competencies are covered. These conferences include morbidity and mortality reviews, journal clubs, invited-guest lectures, basic science reviews, walking rounds, pre-op conferences and more. Core competency development includes video-taped role playing sessions, ethics discussions, research education, team meetings and more.

Walking Grand Rounds occur every Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. in the Neuro Trauma ICU of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Neurosurgery Academic Activities occur every Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. in Classroom 3 of the Medical Education Building of Roanoke Memorial.


Neuro Oncology Conferences are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 700 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. in the 1 West Conference Room of Roanoke Memorial.
