Spinal Cord Injury

Spinal cord injuries are the result of compression to the spinal cord due to an injury, or from a disease in the surrounding area of the spine. Symptoms can include numbness, pain, weakness, and/or paralysis at and below the injury. Spinal cord injuries are often seen after major auto accidents, falls from a high distance, diving into shallow water, gunshot or stabbing wounds, and more. Treatment usually involves surgery, rehabilitation, therapy and more.
