Carilion Clinic focuses on patient-centered care, education and research. We value and support our residents' participation in scholarly activities.

The Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute provides another avenue for our residents to become involved.

We provide 40,000 CME hours a year, close to 400 hours of didactics (morning report & Friday academic 1/2 day). Didactic exposure to developing your teaching and research skills are accomplished through collaborating with the Office of Professional Staff Affairs. Teaching and research skills classes are open to all Physician and Residents, and are held in the Med. Ed. building from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

Twenty-four hours of resident bedside Ultrasound Training with Dr. Paul Dallas are also offered to all residents.
