How to Apply

We only accept applications completed and submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Once your application has been received, it immediately will be reviewed by one or more members of the program's application committee.

The program is seeking well-rounded individuals who, through their application materials, demonstrate a broad and deep medical knowledge data base, an aptitude for deciphering surgical disease states, and an unflagging work ethic founded on the team approach to patient care.

Applicants must present a USMLE Step I score in their application materials; a Step II CK score is strongly encouraged. Qualified applicants will be offered the opportunity of a personal interview, which is an absolute requirement before a categorical applicant will be listed with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). We accept PGY-1 applicants ONLY through the NRMP. No applicant will be ranked without a Step II CK score.

Deadline for their submission of applications is 4 November 2016 at 11:59 p.m. Applicants who have been offered an interview will be notified, by the email address given on their ERAS application. Additional information as to the interview process will be included in the mailing.

Since we interview only a small cadre of applicants on a limited number of interview dates, we ask that you act upon the interview opportunity within two weeks of receipt of the offer.

The same application process outlined for the categorical applicants is adhered to for preliminary candidates. However, since we are very limited in our personal interview opportunities and we appreciate the enormous expense incurred by applicants during the interview process, we do not require a personal interview for a preliminary position.

Qualified applicants who are seeking one year of training will be contacted to set up a phone interview with the program director/designee - the results of which generally suffice to complete the interview process.

We will certainly make separate arrangements for any preliminary candidate who truly desires to personally meet with the faculty and residents, but it is not a requirement for being considered a preliminary candidate for a position within the training program.
