Residency Information

J. Randolph (Randy) Clements, D.P.M., Program Director

The Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency at Carilion Clinics is RRA (Rearfoot/Ankle Reconstructive) credentialed under the new model and has received approval from the Council on Podiatric Medical Education.

Carilion Clinic is a large academic medical center that provides comprehensive medical care to the citizens of western Virginia. There are eight hospitals within the health system. The residency will be based at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital which is an 800-bed facility that serves as the region's Level 1 Trauma Center.

In 2010, Carilion Clinic and Virginia Tech partnered to open the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute. This clearly underscores the institutions' dedication to research, training, and academic medicine.

Our residency program is fully integrated with the Carilion Clinic Department of Orthopaedics, which has been ranked as one of the nation's top orthopaedics groups by US News and World Reports.

This web site should give you an overview of our residency program and includes information on curriculum, application process, benefits, and more. If you have additional questions, you may contact us.

The mission of the Carilion Clinic Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency program is to use a structured and directed self learning model in an academic medical center setting. The residency program will be supported by a team of experienced podiatric and orthopaedic faculty to develop outstanding podiatrists who are prepared to pursue board certification in foot surgery and reconstructive rear foot/ankle surgery.
