Mythbusters: The Truth about Your Brain

Myths about the brain abound: We use only 10 percent of our brains. By the time we reach high school, our brains have stopped developing. And when we sleep, our brains shut down. Audra Van Wart, PhD, will tackle these myths and others in Mythbusters: The Truth about Your Brain, a seminar sponsored by the Science Museum of Western Virginia for students of all ages.

Dr. Van Wart earned her doctorate in neurobiology and behavior at the State University of New York at Stony Brook before undertaking a postdoctoral fellowship at the Picower Institute for Learning and Memory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. For the three years prior to joining the VTC Research Institute, she worked at Cell Press, most recently as the associate scientific editor of the biomedical journal Neuron.
