Turn in your unused or expired medications for safe disposal.

Simply bring your medications (no needles please) to this event where they can be safely collected and then destroyed by local law enforcement and DEA agents.  

No appointment necessary!

** Year - round medication disposal is available at the Sheriff's Annex located behind the Roanoke County Juvenile and Domestic Relations building at the corner of East Calhoun Street and Strawberry Lane. **

You can help prevent drug abuse and protect our waterways:

  • Lock up or hide your medications to prevent others from taking them.
  • Don't flush your medications - trace amounts of the chemicals in medications can end up in our nation's waterways.
  • Dispose of your medications at secure take-back sites.

Brush Up for Healing Arts: A Paint Class for Everyone

If you want to have some stress-releasing fun while learning new techniques and methods of painting, join us for our first of three painting sessions! Instructor Janet Wimmer will give an overall introduction to the elements of art and the principles of design at the beginning of each class. Each session will focus on one element and one principle that will be used for the painting. All paintings will have a similar subject but not all paintings will look alike, allowing for individual creativity.

A Community Event to Inspire Better Health - Wishes: A Conversation About End-of-Life Care

Join Carilion Clinic Hospice for an evening of casual conversation as it relates to the values, wishes and goals that emerge when life is limited.  Hear from our panel of experts how to honor values and wishes and translate them into a plan of care that you and your loved ones deem most essential to end-of-life decisions.

All attendees will receive a free “Wishes” Decisions Kit at this event to guide conversations on end-of-life.  This kit is designed to assist in your discussions, making this process easy and meaningful to you and
your loved ones.

Research suggests that a connection to nature is biologically innate; as humans, we have an affinity for the natural world.

Please join Carilion Clinic's Community Health Educator, Gail Nordhaus, for a series of guided tree walks around town.

** Please plan to wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes.  Hats, Sunglasses and Sunscreen recommended!

         They may not be extraterrestrials, but they are out of this world interesting!

Afib, Anticoagulation and alternative Treatment Options
