It’s no secret that breast milk is the best milk for babies. But what really happens after leaving the hospital? This event will feature Breastmilk, a 90-minute film showcasing vignettes of new mothers who share the social, economic and political factors influencing their choice to breastfeed beyond the first few days or weeks. The film reveals the realities, constraints, and opportunities for exclusive breastfeeding and is open to anyone who plays a role in supporting that, including parents-to-be, new moms, close family and friends, care takers.
A 30-45 minute panel discussion will follow, led and moderated by Bernice Hausman, Ph.D., a humanities professor at both Virginia Tech and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. The panel will consist of local parents, OB/GYN physicians, support staff and more.
This event is free but registration is required. Call Carilion Clinic at 800-422-8482 to register.
