what are you doing October 13th?

Carilion Clinic Children's Hospital will be unveiling our brand new mobile ICU to the public on October 13, 2011. It will be parked in the lot in front of CRMH and open to visitors from 10 am to 2 pm. This vehicle was made possible, in large part due to the fundraising efforts of Children's Miracle Network. It will help us provide enhanced interhospital patient transport services to the children of Southwest and Central Virginia.

Come out and take a tour of this mobile ICU. Other activities will be going on, and members of our neonatal/pediatric critical care transport team will be on hand to answer questions about the services we provide.

I will be there for much of the time, as will many of my colleagues from the children's hospital. Come say hello.

This is just the FIRST TIME the vehicle will be visible to the public. We anticipate additional times when it will be available, although I do not know if a schedule of appearances has been established. This is a great time because the mobile ICU hasn't yet been put into service, and therefore we can be certain it can remain on site the whole time.

I do know we are planning to have it at the Hotel Roanoke on November 5, for our annual Miracles for Children Gala. I will post more information about that even soon!

This is good news for our community. As a mother it is good to know that this mobile ICU is available if needed. As a supporter of CMN I am pleased that money is used for needed items like this. I will stop by to see it on October 13.

Thanks, Vickie. I hope that others will plan to join you. I would love to see as many friends of the children's hospital there as are able to break away from work to be there!

I love the design -- I can't wait to see it in-person. I've been giddy ever since I saw the concept art.

Maybe we need to come make a video (perhaps of a guided tour?) that day for a follow-up blog post, eh?

Oh, definitely. A video would be great for those who are not able to be with us in person that day.

Will there be other times that this will be available? On a weekend or an evening?
