Summary
Carilion Children’s Child Development Clinic treats a variety of disabilities and learning disorders. We primarily evaluate children from birth to 8 years of age; older children are seen on a case-by-case basis. Requests for consultation come from primary care providers, as we are primarily a diagnostic clinic. Our multidisciplinary approach incorporates child psychology, educational consultation, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, pediatric nursing and clinical social work. Also, we work closely with an education specialist who offers school-based recommendations and coordinates follow-up plans.
