(PRC), a national healthcare marketing research company.

“We are so proud and excited to receive five awards from PRC for providing excellent patient care to our community,” said Richard Mastalski, senior director of CGCH. “We are dedicated to our patients and always look for ways to enhance their experience with our hospital and staff. Being recognized for this effort is so rewarding and we appreciate the positive feedback.”

PRC conducts a confidential survey of patients’ perceptions of their care annually. CGCH was awarded 5-Star Awards, scoring in the top 10 percent or above the 90th percentile of PRC’s national client database for 2013 in four categories. Additionally, they received one 4- Star Award, scoring above the top 75th percentile. The awards received were the result of excellence in communication about medications, communication with nurses, communication with doctors, discharge information and overall quality of care in the Emergency Department.

“Acknowledgment for providing exceptional care and communicating effectively with our patients highlights that what we do, and all the extra measures we take, is worthwhile and effective,” stated Bill Flattery, vice president of the Western Region for Carilion Clinic. “I’m extremely proud of everyone at CGCH – this is a significant accomplishment.”

Congratulations also go to Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital with a 5-Star Award for overall quality of care in endoscopy, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital NICU's 5-Star Award for overall quality of care, and Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital's 5-Star Award for communication with doctors.

“PRC Awards are truly an honor to receive because they are the direct result of positive patient interactions,” said Nancy Howell Agee, president and chief executive officer of Carilion Clinic. “It’s exciting to see how many areas have been recognized in our system and I’m proud of those who have contributed to this achievement.”
