A state-of-the-art medical complex is now open at Smith Mountain Lake. The new $4 million facility represents Carilion Clinic’s investment in the future health and well-being of the lake community. The facility opened on July 27, 2009 on a 21-acre site located in the Westlake Towne Center, behind Kroger.
The 10,000-square-foot complex brings together sleep services, imaging technology, and medical specialists in a single location. Additionally, Life-Guard emergency helicopters can land on a new, adjoining helipad and ambulance personnel are on-site, enhancing emergency care for the lake area.
Physician specialists include cardiologists. As the needs of the community grow, other types of specialists may be added to offer lake residents services they need that are close to home.
