Non-Invasive Assessment of the Left Ventricular End-Diastolic Pressure (LVEDP) Using Portable Ultrasound: SonoSite
Protocol Description
The purpose of this research is to evaluate whether non-invasive, bedside, ultrasound measurements of the right neck vein can provide good estimates of the left heart filling pressure or LVEDP. It is useful for clinicians to accurately predict the LVEDP to manage common medical conditions (such as congestive heart failure and/or kidney failure) to provide the best clinical outcome.
Eligibility Criteria
Patients MUST:
- Patients 18 years of age or older
- Patients undergoing elective left and/or right heart catheterization for evaluation of worsening dyspnea and/or chest pain.
