Carilion Clinic Hosted the 5th Annual Research Day — 2012

The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) held its 5th annual Carilion Clinic Research Day on May 10, 2012 at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) with more than 100 clinicians and researchers attending.

Read Montague, Ph.D., of the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute (VTCRI), gave the keynote address, discussing economic games and the underpinnings of cognition in health and disease.

Presentations were given by Sandra Malakauskas, M.D., Salem VA Medical Center staff nephrologist, Stuart Tousman, Ph.D., Jefferson College of Health Sciences (JCHS) professor of psychology, and Deborah Kelly, Ph.D., VTCRI assistant professor.

The event also showcased 25 research projects through poster presentations from Carilion and Virginia Tech faculty, medical residents, medical students, JCHS faculty and students, and area high school students. The day also included oral presentations, and an awards ceremony for outstanding research.
