If you are having problems with shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, non-cardiac chest pain, asthma, or other respiratory conditions, your doctor may refer you to a Carilion Clinic pulmonary practice so we can help diagnose what is causing your breathing difficulties. We have multiple locations across western Virginia and treat most pulmonary illnesses. In certain cases, you may be referred to one of our specialty clinics, including:
- Asthma management
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Difficult airway/Lung mass
- Sleep center
Carilion provides diagnosis, treatment, and management of a number of respiratory conditions, including:
- Cough
- Rhinitis (sinus congestion and/or drip)
- Smoking cessation
- Diagnosis and management of respiratory disorders related to neuromuscular disease, such as Guillain-Barre syndrome
- Evaluation and management of hepato-pulmonary syndrome
- Acute and chronic pulmonary emboli (lung clots)
- Lung infections to include tuberculosis, atypical mycobacterium, fungal infections and usual pneumonia
- Diagnosis and treatment of lung abscesses
- Diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary vascular disease
- Performance of pulmonary pxercise testing
- Evaluation for consideration for referral to a lung transplantation center
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis
- Pleural disorders
