Didactic Sessions

In addition to extensive clinical experiences, we provide a comprehensive didactic curriculum for our psychiatry residents to promote thoughtful and relevant learning. The following is a brief summary of the didactic schedule.

There are other opportunities available to psychaitry residents such as lectures on research methodologies and grand rounds/lectures in other Carilion Clinic departments which are not elaborated here.

Teaching methods include lectures, tutorials/seminars, case presentations and group discussions, mock oral boards and vignettes exams, poster presentations, research projects, self-directed learning, clinical discussion with attendings, and peer interactions during patient care activities.
