In addition to bedside and intra-operative education, a vigorous didactic and conference schedule is provided with mandatory attendance of all residents rotating in the region. Conferences are concentrated into Tuesday afternoons from 1-6 pm.
Other regular conferences also requiring mandatory attendance include Neuro-Oncology Conference-Tumor Board every month. There are in addition at least two dinner conference per month including journal club and a program director conference.
In addition, Neurosurgeons and neuroscientists with nationally recognized experience will be invited to serve as Visiting Professors on a periodic basis.

The weekly Neurosurgical Resident Core Curriculum and Basic Science Conferences begin with rounds on NTICU every Tuesday from 1300 to 1400 and are followed by the didactic conference from 1400 to 1800. Here all aspects of neuroscience fundamentals and core competencies are covered. These conferences include morbidity and mortality reviews, journal clubs, invited-guest lectures, basic science reviews, walking rounds and pre-op conferences. Core competency development includes video-taped role playing sessions, ethics discussions, research education and team meetings. Please see our academic schedule.
