Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital provides chaplain services for patients and families. Chaplains provide compassionate spiritual support that upholds each family’s religious beliefs, culture and value system.
We recognize that spiritual care is an important part of the healing process, so chaplains are available for spiritual and emotional support 24 hours a day.
Our chaplains provide support in many ways, including:
- Patient visitation
- Spiritual consultation
- Comfort and emotional support
- Consultation on religious/spiritual beliefs and concerns
- Readings of holy text
- Inspirational writings
- Crisis intervention
- Support in decision making
- Encouragement and celebration
- End–of–life support
- Bereavement support
Chaplain visits can be requested at any time by notifying a nurse.
