At Carilion Clinic Hospice our goal is to support every person in fulfilling the final steps in life. We strive to recognize each person’s unique needs and tailor our services accordingly. Our services are available to the entire family throughout the bereavement period.
One quarter of people with a terminal illness have served in our armed forces. Carilion Clinic considers it an honor and a privilege to be able to provide support at this time in their lives. Veterans Day is an opportunity for us to bring joy to their lives and to say thank you – it is one small way we recognize their service to all of us.
We visit each veteran, personally offering thanks for their service and sacrifice to our country. Each veteran is also given a miniature flag and a flag ribbon pin.
Camp Treehouse is a day camping experience for families with children ages 6-17 who have lost a loved one. The Carilion camp provides a caring, safe environment where children are free to explore their feelings and concerns.
Camp Treehouse is an opportunity for children to meet others their own age who know what it's like to lose a loved one. Campers will share memories and participate in many activities, such as arts, crafts, music, games, hiking, and team-building programs.
