WELCOME TO THE VIRGINIA TECH CARILION SCHOOL OF MEDICINE DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Emergency Medicine Medical Students

Electives contain a mix of clinical experiences, readings, and simulation experiences to enhance learning.

We appreciate your interest in our department as a site for your Emergency Medicine (EM) elective rotation.

Our department is a fantastic place for visiting students to learn and see the workings of a Level 1 trauma center in western Virginia that serves a large urban and rural area. We are unique in that we represent a fantastic intersection between community and academic medicine as well as rural/underserved and urban/suburban patient population. If you want to see it, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is the place to rotate!

We offer several elective rotations for visiting students. All electives are precepted by the clinical and academic faculty in the VTC Department of Emergency Medicine. Electives contain a mix of clinical experiences, readings, and simulation experiences to enhance learning. For more information, please visit the Office of Visiting Student Affairs.
