Carilion Clinic has entered into a joint partnership with Virginia Tech to form the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute (VTC). The Office of Professional Staff Affairs (OPSA), in collaboration with the VTC Dean’s Office, supports a faculty development series for the VTC faculty in order to develop and enhance their skills as academic faculty.
Core modules for this program include:
- Faculty Orientation
- Small Group Facilitation
- Educational Portfolios, Promotion and Tenure
- Understanding Problem-Based Learning
- Care Writing for Problem-Based Learning
- Assessment Methods
Faculty members are also encouraged to participate in the OPSA Open Curriculum offerings, particularly those that focus on teaching and learning.
