When the unexpected happens, we are there – wherever you need us. Carilion Clinic’s Patient Transportation (CCPT) is our premier transport division, a vitally important service we provide as western Virginia’s regional Level I Trauma Center. Recognized nationally as a leader in patient transport services, we provide immediate, 24-hour emergency service through our fleet of advanced life-support, paramedic-staffed ambulances, and our Carilion Life-Guard emergency transport helicopters.
Our specialized medical professionals are our best resource, so we make sure they have the organizational support they need to serve our patients and community. As part of our ongoing commitment to quality care, we promote continuing education for our staff members. To that end:
- Every member of our CCPT leadership team has obtained Medical Transport Executive certification through the Medical Transport Leadership Institute, a 2-year curriculum focused on patient safety and quality improvement.
- Our program was the first integrated air and ground program in Virginia to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems, a peer review organization dedicated to improving patient care and transport safety through specific standards, education, and services.
- All CCPT team members are required to take an Emergency Vehicle Operations course every 4 years, over and above the usual one-time certification.
Whether you are in an urban area or in the most distant rural outreaches, we will get to you quickly and get you to the care you need. CCPT provides ground and air services covering all of Virginia and West Virginia, as well as parts of North Carolina and Tennessee.
