Carilion Hospitals Receive PRC Quality Awards

Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital, Carilion New River Valley Medical Center and Carilion Giles Community Hospital have received top honors from Professional Research Consultants (PRC), a national healthcare marketing research company. Each year, PRC conducts confidential surveys asking patients about their care, and presents awards to top performing hospitals. 

Carlion Giles Community Hospital was named a 4-Star Hospital for Overall Quality of Care, ranking in the top 25% of hospitals.

Carilion Clinic Emergency Services Honored by Western Virginia EMS Council

Members of Carilion Clinic’s Emergency Services team received several awards from the Western Virginia EMS Council.

Billy Thompson, LPN, was named “Outstanding Nurse To EMS”. Thompson, a communications specialist at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is well known to regional emergency services workers as the “voice on the radio” in the Emergency Department.

Jefferson College of Health Sciences Adds New Degree Programs

Jefferson College of Health Sciences is adding two new graduate degree programs. The Master of Healthcare Administration is an online program that begins in the Fall of this year.  The Master of Science in Nursing will be offered online in 2014.  In addition, JCHS is expanding available seats in its Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing course. New Life-Guard 10 Hangar

Carilion Clinic CEO Nancy Agee joined officials from Franklin County, Westlake and Carilion Clinic Patient Transportation to cut the ribbon on Life-Guard 10's new hangar and crew quarters. Life-Guard's new home in the Westlake development means life-saving trauma care is just minutes away by air.  A big "thanks" to all the local reporters who came out for the event. VTC and JCHS Win Bid to Host International Conference in Roanoke

In a highly competitive site-selection process, the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute, in collaboration with Jefferson College of Health Sciences, has won a bid to host the fifth Collaborating Across Borders (CAB V) conference in Roanoke in September 2015. The event, sponsored every two years by the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative, is the premier North American conference on educating and implementing effective health care teams.
