It is perhaps one of the most difficult conversations between a doctor and a dying patient. How much should we do to keep you alive? Some health providers are trying a new approach - using frank, detailed videos describing advanced life-prolonging measures such as CPR and ventilators to help patients and their families make informed decisions.

Celebrate Carilion Giles Communty Hospital's 4th Anniversary this Sunday, June 1st

The new Carilion Giles Community Hospital (CGCH), completed on Hartley Way in May of 2010,  has been proudly serving the residents of Giles County and the surrounding region with quality care for four years.  To celebrate this milestone, CGCH is joining with the Giles Arts Council to present an anniversary celebration in the hospital lobby on June 1st, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 p.m.  The celebration will feature the outstanding work of Giles County Public Schools winning artists.

Carilion Clinic Children's Hospital Patient Shines in Children's Miracle Network Spotlight

Each year Food Lion fundraises for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®. This year, there’s an exciting twist. 6 markets across the country were selected to have a local patient on the shelves of Food Lion stores to brand the partnership with CMN Hospitals. Roanoke is pleased to be one of them. Victor Chase, a 6 year old kindergartner, has been treated at Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital since birth.

The Virginia Science Festival - An Important Event for Kids and Healthcare!

Carilion Clinic is sponsoring Virginia's first science festival!  The Virginia Science Festival, coming to Blacksburg and Roanoke October 4-11, is presented by the Science Museum of Western Virginia and Virginia Tech. The event is a fun and exciting journey into the worlds of science, technology, art and math.  Carilion President and CEO Nancy Howell Agee explains why this event is an important way to support our region's health care.
