100 nurses sitting shoulder-to-shoulder in the auditorium stood and cheered as they learned that Carilion's Roanoke hospitals, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital, have achieved Magnet® status for the third time. Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, recognizes health care organizations for quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice.
“Magnet recognition is the highest honor an organization can receive for nursing services; it is the gold standard for nursing programs. Recognition is a testament of the quality of our patient care and the incredible passion for nursing shown by so many different people from many departments and levels within our organization,” said Carilion Clinic President and CEO Nancy Howell Agee. “Achieving—then repeatedly reaffirming—this designation was only made possible through the hard work, persistence and team work of everyone involved. I am so proud that we have achieved this designation once again.”
