VTC and JCHS Win Bid to Host International Conference in Roanoke

In a highly competitive site-selection process, the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute, in collaboration with Jefferson College of Health Sciences, has won a bid to host the fifth Collaborating Across Borders (CAB V) conference in Roanoke in September 2015. The event, sponsored every two years by the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative, is the premier North American conference on educating and implementing effective health care teams.

A Timely Warning about Heat, Kids and Cars from Carilion's Safe Kids Coalition

As the June temperatures climb, Carilion's Safe Kids Coalition reminds us that a child should NEVER be left alone in a vehicle for ANY reason, even for a "minute".  When the temperature is in the 60's, the temperature inside a car can rise to 110 in minutes, imagine what happens when the temperature is in the 80's or 90's! Every Thursday afternoon, employees leaving Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital are greated by a row of tables brimming with fresh, locally grown produce, meat and eggs provided by Good Food Good People.  It is part of Carilion's employee wellness initiative, making it convenient to pick up healthy, local food. Employees from nearby Carilion office buildings and South Roanoke neighborhood residents also participate in the community market.
