Why build a hospital inside a tent?

When disaster strikes, wouldn't it be nice to simply pack up a hospital and take it to the patients? That is exactly what Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital (CFMH) did during the derecho two years ago using a Stabilization Treat in Place (STIP) tent, provided by the Near Southwest Preparedness Alliance (NSPA). The STIP tent was recently set up for staff training at CFMH and featured in an article by the Franklin News Post. Read more about the tent and how CFMH and NSPA extend the reach of hospital services into the community.
