Your First Visit at the Prenatal Diagnostic Center
The length of your first appointment at the Prenatal Diagnostic Center depends on the reason you have been referred to our office. First visits can be as long as two to three hours. If there are problems with your pregnancy, we will take as long as you need to answer all of your questions and to give you the best care possible.
Please make arrangements for child care and let us know if you need a note for your employer. Waiting times can be long, so you may want to bring something to read and a snack.
If you are scheduled for an ultrasound, a full bladder prior to the test is helpful. If you are at least 17 weeks into your pregnancy, we may be able to tell the sex of the baby. You are welcome to have one or two adult guests in the ultrasound room, but please remember that it can take up to an hour to get all of the necessary measurements. We will provide you with several pictures of your baby after the ultrasound.
