What Quality Care Means to You
Definitions
Licensure, Compliance, Accreditation, and Regulatory
Ensure that Carilion Clinic complies with all necessary laws and fulfills our obligations to patients to meet appropriate standards of accreditation. For example, all Carilion Clinic hospitals are Joint Commission accredited.
Safety
Work to create an organization where injuries resulting from care and the care environment do not occur. Analyze and respond to patient safety events.
Performance Improvement
Provide reliable healthcare services to all who could benefit based upon scientific knowledge. Refrain from providing unnecessary and costly services to those not likely to benefit. Avoid waste, wait times and harmful delays. Provide care that does not vary because of personal characteristics (gender, ethnicity, geographic location and socio-economic status).
Clinical Resource Management
Effectively manage Carilion Clinic’s resources to ensure the best possible care is delivered to the maximum number of patients.
Center for Clinical Outcomes and Health Services Research
Identify and pursue grants and external funding to advance quality. Manage publications and share our results with peers through journals, seminars and conferences.
World-Class Care
Focus on projects and efforts that help Carilion Clinic provide care that is respectful of, and responsive to, individual and family preferences, needs, and values. Assure that we are treating others with respect and collegiality, while appropriately challenging each other to guarantee that the patients we serve are offered the best healthcare available.
Quality Care with a Human Touch
Whether it's ensuring that patients have access to their prescribed medication or helping raise money for the needy, Charlie is always there to lend a hand. He believes that when the patient is kept in focus, all Carilion Clinic employees' roles are more enjoyable and meaningful.
