Physical Exams/Medical Surveillance

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires periodic monitoring for employees exposed to many substances, including asbestos, lead, formaldehyde and a variety of hazardous materials.

For some employees, OSHA requires hearing conservation or respiratory protection programs. OSHA has also established safety standards for industries in which employees may be exposed to blood-borne or air-borne pathogens. In addition, employers are required by law to cover the costs of medical treatment for employees who suffer from work-related illness or injury.

Carilion Occupational Medicine (COM) has a comprehensive array of services designed to help you meet and document your compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT), OSHA and Workers' Compensation regulations.

All of our medical surveillance and testing programs meet OSHA standards. Carilion Occupational Medicine is backed by clinical professionals and support staff with training and expertise in compliance issues and specialization in toxicology.
