Pediatric Cardiology
Pediatric cardiology is the study of the structure, function and disorders of the hearts of babies, children and adolescents. The pediatric cardiac service at Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital tests and treats patients who are born with or acquire heart problems. We perform over 3,000 pediatric cardiac evaluations in our clinics each year.
Children receive cardiac consultations at Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia for a variety of conditions including:

- Congenital heart defects and disease
- Cyanosis or blueness
- Heart murmurs
- High blood pressure
- Kawasaki disease, Down Syndrome, Marfan Syndrome, DiGeorge Syndrome

- Septal defects (holes in the walls of the heart)
- Syncope (fainting or losing consciousness)
