Our NICU staff is committed to family-centered care. We want parents to be part of our team and participate in the decisions that need to be made. Our goal is to get babies well and home with their families as soon as possible.

Specialized Care

Caring for babies in the NICU takes many specialists. The NICU care team is led by neonatologists, who are doctors with special training in caring for sick and premature babies.

Our neonatologists are:

Other important members of our care team include case managers, chaplains, clinical nurse specialists, lactation consultants, nutritionists, occupational and physical therapists, pharmacists, a clinical nurse specialist, nurse practitioners, a parent educator, registered nurses, residents, respiratory therapists, social workers, specialist doctors and speech therapists.

Visitors

Parents with a baby in the NICU may see their baby at any time, 24 hours a day. Sometimes you may be asked to step out (sterile procedures, a crisis situation, etc.). We will bring you back to your baby's bedside as soon as possible.

Grandparents may visit alone with the permission of the parents. In order for grandparents to visit alone, their names must be listed by the parents. Otherwise, grandparents may visit at any time if accompanied by the mother or the father of the baby.

The mother and father of the baby must accompany all other visitors.

Brothers and sisters two years of age or older may visit the baby. Other children over age 12 may visit with the baby's parents. For safety reasons, children are not allowed to hold or feed your baby in the nursery.

For the safety of all the babies in the NICU, we limit the number of people who can see your baby to two people (other than parents) at a time.
