Merit Adjustments
As a Carilion employee, you’ll have the opportunity to earn pay increases based on your job performance. Merit increases are awarded during an employee’s annual performance review.
Pay Differentials and Premiums
Based on your position, you may be eligible for several premium incentives, such as weekend coverage premium, preceptor premium and on-call pay. You also may be eligible for a per-hour premium that is added to your base pay rate for hours worked during eligible shifts, such as weekday evenings and nights, weekends and Carilion-designated holidays. Eligibility for shift differentials and premiums is determined by position.
Certification Bonuses
We recognize the importance that education plays in direct patient care, and we provide certification bonuses to employees in eligible positions who hold eligible certifications.
Sign-on Bonus
Depending on your position, you may be eligible for a sign-on package for joining our team.
Relocation
Depending on your position, you may be eligible for relocation assistance.
Referral Rewards
Our Referral Rewards program is a chance to earn cash by helping recruit employees into hard-to-fill positions. Depending on the position, you may earn up to $2,000 for each person you refer who is hired.

Our life insurance plan provides you with protection by paying a benefit in the event of your death. We provide, at no cost to you, employee basic term life insurance. And you’re eligible to purchase supplemental term life insurance at group rates for yourself, your spouse and dependent children.
