For critical emergencies with life- or limb-threatening problems, Emergency Departments at each Carilion hospital are ready to care for you.

Carilion Clinic is the leading provider of emergency and trauma care in Southwest Virginia. Emergency medicine physicians, residents and experienced nursing staff with specialized training in emergency, pediatric, forensic and trauma nursing, staff the Emergency Departments (EDs) of Carilion Clinic and its hospital facilities.

The Emergency Department at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) is the region’s only Level I Trauma Center. CRMH also features a specialized Pediatric Emergency Department.

Accredited Chest Pain and Stroke Care

As part of its Emergency Services care, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital has made a commitment to optimize the care provided to stroke and cardiac victims.

CRMH is an accredited Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and has been accredited twice as a Chest Pain Center by the internationally recognized Society of Chest Pain Centers.
