Critical Care Team
In 2003, Carilion Clinic Patient Transportation launched the mobile critical care division. Supporting critically ill patients, the critical care specialty team consists of a critical care nurse, paramedic and ground staff driver.
The team is educated in many areas of critical care transport medicine, including clinical rotations and didactic education. They also work with the air medical specialty team for training and cross-training opportunities.
The Critical Care Team provides care and transport for the following patients:
- Adult medical/cardiac/etc.
- Adult and pediatric transfer trauma
- Adult and pediatric scene trauma
- Obstetrics
- Burns
- IABP
- Ventilator
