Communication Center
Carilion Clinic Patient Transportation (CCPT) has a state-of-the-art communications center designed to coordinate and assist in all modes of patient transport.
CCPT utilizes Computer Aided Dispatch, GPS technology and mapping systems, as well as highly skilled dispatchers and transportation coordinators to meet all patient transportation needs.

Upon accepting the patient transfer, the communications center receives the following information:
- Patient demographics
- Admitting diagnosis
- Priority/seriousness of the transfer
- Location of the patient
- Destination of the patient
- Sending and receiving physicians
- Current medications and treatments
- Specialty care needs
