Carilion Clinic's Cancer Center Opens Only Dedicated Cancer Unit in Region

Carilion Clinic’s new inpatient cancer treatment facility in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital brings specialized cancer care to the Roanoke Valley.
The new unit has 32 private patient rooms, reducing the risk of infection in patients with lowered immune systems. The rooms also provide views of the Roanoke Valley, a comfort for many patients who are spending time in the hospital for treatment.
The center’s team of cancer specialists consists of some of the region’s only certified oncology nurses. All the nurses at the center are certified by the Oncology Nursing Society to give chemotherapy. They also work alongside other cancer specialists including licensed oncology counselors, dietitians and sub-specialty oncologists and neurosurgeons.
