Camp Powhatan in Pulaski County
Camp Treehouse West is a day-camping experience for children ages 6-17 who have had a loved one die. The camp provides a caring, safe environment where children are free to explore their feelings and concerns. Children learn that grief is not a process of forgetting, but remembering with less pain.
While not mandatory, parent(s) or guardian(s) are encouraged to attend with their child. Adults will participate in sessions designed to better understand a child's grieving process and how they can best support their child's needs.
Camp Treehouse West provides the opportunity for kids to meet others their age who know what it's like to lose a loved one. Campers will share memories, explore feelings, and remember loved ones through creative and recreational activities.
Activities will include art, crafts, music, games and team-building exercises. We will provide lunch.
Grief counselors and volunteers are specially trained to assist those who have lost a loved one. Many have experienced similar losses in their own lives.
Camp Treehouse West will utilize the faclities at Camp Powhatan in Pulaski County. The Camp covers acres of fields, streams and natural forest beauty.
